Switzerland is a landlocked country in south-western region of Central Europe. It has borders with France, Italy, Austria, Liechtenstein and Germany. The climate varies with altitude and can be cold, cloudy, rainy/snowy in the winter, with warm, cloudy and humid summers. Switzerland is known for its mountains but it also has large central areas of rolling hills, plains, and lakes.

Switzerland is among the world's most developed countries with Zurich, Geneva and Basel ranking among the highest in quality of life, although with some of the highest costs of living. Switzerland has a very established banking sector and is well known for its specialized industries in watchmaking and chocolate production.
